At GeC , our Medical Examination Program is dedicated to raise the standards of Pre-Sea and Pre-Employment medical examinations for seafarers across India. We go beyond routine health checks, offering a comprehensive approach that not only assesses a seafarer’s fitness to work but also empowers them with knowledge and guidance for maintaining their health—both onboard and ashore.
We believe that “health” encompasses both physical and mental well-being. Our program is designed to support seafarers in all aspects of their health, helping to reduce medical repatriations and sick cases onboard. This leads to safer voyages and greater success for our clients.
GeC doesn’t just test; we teach. Seafarers receive practical advice on how to manage their health during their contracts, fostering a culture of wellness that extends beyond the medical centre.
We strive to become the leader in maritime healthcare by truly understanding and responding to the needs of both our customers and the seafarers we serve. Our commitment to integrity, accuracy, and compliance ensures that our results are trusted and our services are valued.
A Pre-Sea Medical Examination is conducted before an individual embarks on a seafaring career. Its primary objective is to ensure that only those who are physically and mentally fit are allowed to begin training for employment at sea, thereby preventing unsuitable candidates from entering the profession. This examination is typically more stringent, as it is often a one-time assessment before a seafarer’s career begins
Flag medicals refer to medical examinations that comply with the requirements of a ship’s flag state—the country under whose laws the ship is registered. Each flag state may have specific medical standards, but most adhere to international conventions such as the Maritime Labour Convention (MLC), 2006, and the STCW Convention, 1978 (as amended). Only doctors authorized by the flag state can conduct these examinations, and the resulting medical certificate is necessary for seafarers to serve on ships flying that flag.
At GeC we can conduct medical tests for Seafarers Joining ships registered under Indian flag and as well as ships registered under following foreign flags
