Our Services

Pre-Sea Medical Examination

A Pre-Sea Medical Examination is conducted before an individual embarks on a seafaring career. Its primary objective is to ensure that only those who are physically and mentally fit are allowed to begin training for employment at sea, thereby preventing unsuitable candidates from entering the profession. This examination is typically more stringent, as it is often a one-time assessment before a seafarer’s career begins

Pre-Employment Examination for Seafarers

The Pre-Employment Examination is conducted before a seafarer is engaged or re-engaged for service on a vessel. This examination ensures that the seafarer remains fit for the specific duties required on board and meets the safety standards necessary for shipboard life. It focuses on the demands of the intended position and any changes in health status since the last assessment.
post-sea

Post-Sea Medical Examinations for Seafarers

At GeC, we offer comprehensive Post-Sea Medical Examinations for seafarers returning from duty—whether signing off after a routine voyage or due to a medical condition. These assessments are essential to ensure the health and safety of crew members following extended service at sea, particularly for those exposed to hazardous environments such as chemical or oil tankers.

Issuance/renewal of CDC, GMDSS and other courses

Seafarers must undergo medical examinations for the issuance or renewal of essential documents such as the Continuous Discharge Certificate (CDC), the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS) certificate, and for certain maritime courses

Foreign Flag medicals for Seafarers.

Flag medicals refer to medical examinations that comply with the requirements of a ship’s flag state—the country under whose laws the ship is registered. Each flag state may have specific medical standards, but most adhere to international conventions such as the Maritime Labour Convention (MLC), 2006, and the STCW Convention, 1978 (as amended). Only doctors authorized by the flag state can conduct these examinations, and the resulting medical certificate is necessary for seafarers to serve on ships flying that flag.

At GeC we can conduct medical tests for Seafarers Joining ships registered under Indian flag and as well as ships registered under following foreign flags
Marshall Islands
Singapore
Hong Kong
Malta
Bahamas
Cyprus
